Wisconsin Dells changes with the times, still remains a classic.

Well, our friends at the Chicago Tribune wrote a nice little article about Wisconsin Dells the other day.

Because apparently, no one in the Chicago Metropolitan area has heard of Wisconsin Dells. I jest. Actually, the article couldn't have come at a better time. Travel on a whole is low this year. Gas prices, housing prices, etc. But at the same time, that grants Wisconsin Dells a bit of a boon, given it's location central to Milwaukee, Chicago and the Twin Cities. Without having to fly, a trip to wisconsin dells deals less of a blow to the wallet than, say, a trip to las vegas or florida. After all, the only fuel more expensive than gasoline is jet fuel, which means expensive airline rates. And even more expensive if it's your own plane. But if you have your own plane, why are you in The Dells? Get thee to San Torini or Skiros or The French Riviera or something else like that!
Sorry, I digress.
The article focused on the Dells (as in the cambrian SANDSTONE formations along the river, not limestone as the article originally stated), the Dells Ducks, the many hotels and resorts, waterparks as well as various attractions in Baraboo including The Al Ringling Theatre and The Circus World Museum.
The really important aspect of the article, I find, is that all the hard work people continue to put into the community shows. The image of Wisconsin Dells continues to update itself, ensuring it wont go the way of Coney Island: tourism hotspot of yesteryear.
