Say it Ain't so, Brett!

Brett Favre bid fairwell to us yesterday, ending his record breaking 17 year career, secure in history as one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL.

In an ESPN phone interview, he was quoted as saying "I know I can still play, but it's like I told my wife, I'm just tired mentally. I'm just tired,"

It's understandable, really. Here is a list of his broken records (My quasi-bears fan girlfriend keeps asking "Well what makes him so great?!". So here's a primer):

Most Touchdown Passes, Career: 442

Most Yards Passing Gained, Career: 61,655

Most Passes Completed, Career: 5,377

Most Passes Attempted, Career: 8,758

Most Seasons, 3,000 or More Yards Passing: 16

Most Passes Had Intercepted, Career: 288 (hey, it's a record.)

Career Wins as a Starting QB: 160

Most consecutive starts by a quarterback: 253 (2nd overall, behind Defensive End Jim Marshall)

Most career games with at least three touchdowns: 63

In the playoffs, Favre stands behind only Joe Montana in pass completions, passing touchdowns, passing yards and passing attempts.

So, yeah. He's tired. I get it. I have a lot of freinds who are not packer fans. They've been emailing me all day, and they all start the same way: "I'm not a packers fan, but I AM a Favre fan."

Well, Mr. Favre, you've had a great run. Put your feet up. You've earned it.
